We recently taped a live studio session with LastFM, capturing video footage of Wormburner in a rare acoustic setting. Each video kicks off with some interview commentary that sets up each song. From our new LP “Pleasant Living in Planned Communities”, here are acoustic takes of the songs “Somewhere Else To Be” and “Doxology”.
We made the “Dean’s List”
Veteran music critic Robert Christgau has included us on his latest “Dean’s List”, ranking our new LP among the best records of the past year. We are among but a handful of rock bands to make the list, and we are thrilled to share the spotlight with records by The Flaming Lips, Drive-By Truckers, Old 97s, TV on the Radio, New Pornographers, Parquet Courts, and Wussy.

High marks from Robert Christgau
Our new album just got a very high grade from Robert Christgau, the “Dean of American Rock Critics”. Click here to read his brief but flattering review.
“Peekskill” – a look back
A regional magazine wanted to take a look back at our song Peekskill, from the 2010 album “Placed by the Gideons“. Hank answered some questions about the origins of the song and the band’s fascination with post-industrial cityscapes. Click here to read it.
Neutral Milk Hotel’s “Holland 1945”
Introducing our cover version of “Holland 1945” by Neutral Milk Hotel. Many thanks to Under the Gun for the great write-up. We debuted this version of the song last night onstage at New York City’s Mercury Lounge, and by some strange coincidence, on the very same evening, Stephen Colbert chose to play the original version of “Holland 1945” at the ending of his TV show. Spooky!
